Rae Bareli: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rae Bareli, has launched the outpatient services of its Gastroenterology Department, expanding specialised healthcare facilities for patients suffering from digestive system-related ailments in the region.
The Gastroenterology OPD was inaugurated on Monday by Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Amita Jain. The event was attended by Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. Neeraj Kumar Srivastava, Financial Adviser Col. Upendra Nath Rai, Dr. Madhukar Mittal from Internal Medicine, Dr. Archana Verma from Neurology, Dr. Sunita Singh from Paediatric Surgery, Deputy Medical Superintendent-II Dr. Kumar Dharmendra Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent-I Dr. Gaurav Trivedi, Senior Administrative Officer Arvind Shukla, Gastroenterology specialist Dr. Sai Pratap Reddy and other officials and staff members.
The institute said the introduction of the Gastroenterology Department is part of its continuing efforts to provide high-quality and specialised medical care to people in Rae Bareli and surrounding areas.
With the addition of a new faculty member in Gastroenterology, both OPD and IPD services in the specialty are being initiated at AIIMS Rae Bareli. The new services are expected to strengthen the institute’s capacity to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal and liver-related conditions.
The Gastroenterology OPD will operate every Monday and Thursday in Room No. 184 on the first floor of the hospital building. Patients suffering from diseases involving the stomach, intestines, liver and digestive system will be able to consult specialists and receive appropriate treatment at the institute.
The availability of specialised gastroenterology care locally is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel to hospitals in distant cities for consultation and treatment.
Prof. (Dr.) Amita Jain said the expansion of Gastroenterology services represented an important addition for patients in the region. She added that AIIMS Rae Bareli would continue to expand modern and specialised healthcare services in the public interest.
